USRA Data Analyst Featured on NBC's Today Show segment

"How NASA is Tracking Glaciers to Understand Extreme Weather "

The NBC Today Show's crew filmed a segment on Operation Icebridge--an ongoing airborne mission to assess the state of the Arctic and Antarctic ice sheets. Staging out of Greenland, Thule Air Base, NBC's new series "Top of the World" featured inteviews with NASA scientists who are working around the clock to understand the causes of extreme weather, from droughts to fires to floods and hurricanes.

NBC captured spectacular footage and featured USRA  data analyst James Jacobsen from Ames as he put on a harness and climbed into the hatch to fix his instruments. USRA's Jefferson Beck supported the NBC crew. The Today Show featured a longer video and a shorter version of it was aired on NBC Nightly News.
