SOFIA is in New Zealand!

On June 5, the first 2018 Southern Hemisphere science flight was completed with the instrument GREAT (LFA/HFA configuration) on board. Overall it was a very successful flight with at least 90% of the planned science accomplished on every leg. SOFIA returned “clean” with no write-ups from the flight crew and is ready for their second flight.  

The SOFIA team plans to proceed with the next flights in the series –they are planning to fly the next 3 nights (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in New Zealand) and then continue on the standard cadence (post flight day, down day, prep day, followed by 4 consecutive flights).
